Tennessee Soccer Camps

Goalkeeper Academy

July 20 - 22, 2018 (Friday – Sunday)

Description

Come join us in Knoxville for the 11th year of the Tennessee Goalkeeper Academy, an unique experience designed just for goalkeepers! Our staff will include current college coaches and current and former collegiate goalkeepers. This highly-experienced goalkeeper staff will lead campers through a rigorous three-day, seven-session training camp in the confines of the University of Tennessee’s multi-million dollar Regal Soccer Stadium. Our sessions will mirror the regimens of collegiate and professional goalkeepers. We will also address the psychological aspects of soccer’s most important position, as well as the formation of goalkeeper-specific strength and explosive workouts. This will be an exceptional opportunity for goalkeepers from around the country to train together in a specialized environment.

Scheduled Staff include:

Joe Kirt – University of Tennessee Assistant Coach

Hemant Sharma – Maryville College Assistant Coach; Tennessee ODP - Director of Goalkeeping

Allison Whitworth – Spring Hill College Head Coach & Former Professional Goalkeeper

Mary Mancin – Southeastern Louisiana University Assistant Coach

Bryan Walker – Tennessee Wesleyan Men’s Assistant Coach

Other staff will include former professional, current and former collegiate goalkeepers. This highly experienced coaching staff will lead campers through a rigorous three day, seven session training camp in the confines of the University of Tennessee's multi-million dollar Regal Soccer Stadium.

Our sessions will mirror the regimens of collegiate and professional goalkeepers, and will include high-repetition technical training focusing on Handling, Diving, Breakaways, Dealing with crosses and flighted balls and distribution, simulated game scenarios and tactical information, video analysis. We will also address the psychological aspects of soccer's most important position, as well as the formation of goalkeeper-specific strength and explosiveness workouts. This will be a unique opportunity for goalkeepers from around the country to train together in a specialized environment.

Camp will begin on Friday, July 20th, at approximately 3:30pm and conclude Sunday at approximately 2:00pm.

Refunds

There is a $75 administrative fee for ALL cancellations made at least 14 days prior to your camp start date. No refunds for cancellations made within 14 days of your camp start date.

Saturday, July 21st

9:00-11:30am – Session 3 (150 minutes)
11:30-1:30pm – Lunch (Sandwiches)/Recovery Time
1:30-4:00pm – Session 4 (150 minutes)
4:00-6:00pm – Dinner (Pizza)/Recovery Time
6:00-8:00pm – Session 5 (120 minutes)
8:00pm – Pick-up at Regal Stadium

Sunday, July 22nd

8:30-11:00am – Session 6 (150 minutes)
11:00-12:00pm – Snack (not provided)/Recovery Time
12:00-2:00pm – Session 7 (120 minutes)
2:00pm – Closing remarks/pick-up at Regal Stadium

Checklist of Things to Bring
  • Ball (campers may also purchase a Tennessee Soccer ball for $25 at registration – we accept cash, check or credit card with the exception of American Express)
  • Footwear suitable for outdoor play
  • Keeper gloves
  • Shinguards (must be worn at all sessions)
  • Several changes of clothes in case of rain (socks, shorts and shirts)
  • Sunscreen
  • Water bottle (if preferred, we will have coolers and cups set up)
  • **Meals and snacks** Meals are NOT provided on Friday and Sunday. Water, Gatorade drinks and recovery products will be available for the campers throughout camp. If your camper has any food allergies, please alert Emily ASAP so we may edit our order.
Food

Lunch (sandwiches) and dinner (pizza) will be provided ONLY on Saturday the 21st

Lodging

Overnight lodging for campers will not be provided for this camp per University of Tennessee Policy. For out of town campers nearby hotels include:
